Arizona Adventure Two- Electric Boogaloo

Back in December, I got the chance to travel back to one of my favorite places in the world, the beautiful desert wonderland of Arizona. Let me regale you with my travels. lol

I feel (read: hope) that this is becoming a tradition with me, to travel out west to the desert. My first adventure was with my best buddy Kevin by my side and it took us to some pretty cool spots; The Phoenix Zoo as well as the Grand Canyon .

My adventure this time was special because I got to travel with my dad. I wanted to change things up this time so sadly we did not go to the Grand Canyon, but it did give us more time to explore the rest of the Phoenix area.
I am proud to say that I took eleven rolls of film while there (many LOMO films) and I was pretty pleased with the results. So without further ado, here is my adventure.

First off, I got to take my newest camera of the bunch in my pocket; the awe-instpiring Chinon Bellami. This gave me the opportunity to shoot things that I normally would not have due to the size of my big Minolta SLR. I took two rolls with the diminutive little 35mm. They basically span the length of the trip. The first one is in and around Phoenix, click this link to see it

My other Bellami roll chronicles all the way up to our trip on the Verde Canyon RR.- Here it is

Some things you just can’t miss while in PHX. Two of which are the Zoo and the Desert Botanical Gardens. Now you might already know that I have pics from last year so nothing new, right? Wrong! lol Though we went to the same places as before, I captured them in a different way. First off, I sorta knew what I was doing this time using my Minolta X-370 instead of the old Canonet borrowed from my mom. I was also branching out in my film use. Most of my film last year was either Kodak Gold 200 or whatever else was really cheap. This time I chose to use LOMO CN100, AGFA Propack 200 as well as my first foray into the world of LOMO 50-200 Redscale film.

Here are the links to the albums:
Zoo on AGFA Propack 200
Zoo on LOMO CN100
Zoo and DBG on LOMO CN100
Desert Botanical Gardens and Papago Park on Lovely LOMO CN100
Botanical Gardens in Rosy Redscale

The big adventure of the trip was two fold. We took the two and a half hour trip northward to Clarkdale to hitch a ride on the Verde Canyon Rail Road but I also got a chance to use my Fuji Velvia 100. I took several rolls of film while on the train including another roll of LOMO CN100 But what I feel most proud of was my slides- VCRR on Velvety Velvia 100

And belive it or not, there is still more to come, but I haven’t been able to get them online yet. lol So stay tuned cause I got some 110 pics to show y’all and yet another Redscale album.
Update- Here are the final albums from my trip to the great Southwest:
I love shooting 110 I had my little Hanimex Mini 218 with me at all times and I took whatever struck my fancy.

This last redscale album here spelled the end of my trip to Arizona. I can’t begin to tell you the joy that I had over there and I plan to make it back there as soon as I can.

I hope that you can see why I love this place and can’t wait to get back as soon as possible. Thanks for taking a look and as always,
Happy Snappin’
Tim Pawlak
